1. Log in to Elements
2. From the Homepage, select Profile & work

3. Select My research identifiers

4. Select the ORCID link

5a. Select Register now if you don’t have an ORCID
5b. Or Sign into ORCID if you already have an ID

6. You will be directed back to Elements where you will be able to set up how you want Elements and ORCID to share data. Choose from the available options are:

  1. read from and write publication data to my ORCID account - This action will send publications from Symplectic Elements to your ORCID account. This makes it possible for you to easily share your research information and keep it up-to-date. Information will be synchronised between Symplectic Elements and your ORCID account.
  2. read data from my ORCID account - Granting 'Read' permission will allow Symplectic Elements to use the information in your ORCID account to improve the accuracy of your search results.
  3. only use my ORCID iD to support automatic claiming - Removing 'Read' permission will prevent Symplectic Elements from using information in your ORCID account to improve the accuracy of your search results.

7. If you select read from and write you will need to choose which Elements publications will be shared with ORCiD

  1. Choose published and published online journal articles
  2. Sends all publications to ORCiD regardless of privacy level (if it is public or private)
  3. Only ‘favourited’ articles will be shared

8. Run Sync to populate your ORCiD profile with the publications selected in step 7.

9. Send your affiliation details to ORCiD if you wish

10. Select home to finish and return to the homepage

11. Your ORCID will display in your profile, and any articles tagged with your ORCID will be automatically claimed for your publication list.
